The PJ (poor joke) above might no longer remain a PJ if banana peel is replaced by a typical problematic situation one encounters in daily routine. The question remains unanswered then: Why do some people find it difficult to act beyond cure? They do think 'Prevention is The Best Cure' though! I was no different from them! But now my journey is gathering speed, hopefully in the direction that the blog is supposed to drive towards. Checkout my other blogs and work at http://www.worldOFkaizen.com/

Why Do People Go To Temples

"I feel relaxed there".
"I get peace there".
"I go there to connect to God".

Above kind of responses are not uncommon to a question "Why Do People Go To Temples".

Typically, someone goes to a temple.
Closes her eyes.
Meditates on (chants) a Mantra or a prayer.
Experiences that distractions disappear.

Actually meditation done there helps to concentrate on breath. Hence it becomes more rhythmic.
The resulting feel-good effect there helps to connect with one's inner 'self'.

Then why isn't the same phenomenon possible everywhere else other than the temple itself?

A reason may be we don't choose to make it possible at the place/s of our choice. Some make it impossible for their own selves to believe in doing so. We force it on our own selves to believe that the God¹ is present residing in the sculpted idol inside the temple. Or that the God¹ is in the stone neatly installed under a tree where people visit with flowers to worship.

In some cases the story might be that some saint had meditated there in past. So the story-teller begins worshipping the site at times for vested interests of playing politics or making business out of it. Story-teller's disciples continue it. Thereafter passer-bys join the queue and make it bigger. Eventually a temple gets constructed at the site. More the passer-bys, more the story-tellers! And more visitors  get added to the passer-bys that leave their trails and tails.

Actually, some benefit does occur in the process. At least some people do visit such places with 'belief' and some with blind 'faith' though. But their good intentioned meditation (even that of a goon visiting) must be helping them clean up their auras that in turn must be leaving trails of positive energy at 'the site'. It is resonance of such positive energies that surely must be accelerating cleaning up of the aura of other visitors.

So, why do I visit such places although I do so rarely. I do visit them irrespective of their origin of place, caste, creed, nationality. It is for the benefit of the possibility of positive auras accumulated there.

But before exercising that option I do consider practising it at my current place of 'being' myself in real-time anytime for any amount of time without waiting for a Muhurta or an agent to advocate doing so.

Footnote:
1/ God I believe is some omnipresent subtle energy of highest nature and level. It chooses to manifest itself in various forms and shapes that an ordinary may be able to (but doesn't) see, touch and feel in the material world around and in the nature itself. God exists there-and-then in the form of 'that' helping person/soul when one gets or gives a Hearty-and/or-Soulful experience in a given moment or situation .

Forgive Or Don't?

Forgiveness is the Economics of Heart..
It Saves the Expense of Anger
The Cost of Hatred
The Wastage of Peaceful Moments &
Gives You Profits on Smiles..

The above whatsapp that I received gives the message to: Forgive And Forget!

True..!
Lovely tangible and intangible cost-benefit analysis it offers.

But it's difficult for me to forgive someone slapping me, arriving from the 'blue', apparently for no reason. One shouldn't tolerate itunless of course it's sensed as a God-sent one.

In the latter case my action is to Forgive. In case of the former it is to: Forgive But Don't Forget. Because history 'says' if you do (forget) and stay indifferent, more 'slaps' come back in search of you for 'no reason'.

Decades ago, doors of Sydenham commerce college got 'banged' on me. When some close some do open. Some for the better. Those of Ruparel college opened with many more thereafter.
The 'slap' proved to be God-sent!

In engineering college, someone ridiculed my looks. I learnt to differenciate among Functional, Aesthetic and Functionally-Aesthetic look/s.
The 'slap' proved to be God-sent!

There were many more 'slaps' even in my professional life. Sometimes due to inadvertent mistakes. All of those made me stronger and wiser.
The 'slaps' proved to be God-sent!

Day-by-day, I've been trying to get WISER to know the difference!

P. S. You may take a tests of wisdom for the 'slaps' in case of situations in the blogposts listed in the end.

The Business Of Businesses

It's a good idea to break from routine.
Breaking from routine is an opportunity to learn new things.

This is particularly true when one goes on tour.
One is forced to take various travel modes at odd times at times. That's the time secrets of various 'businesses' unfold provided the traveler looks around making powerful observations.

The other day early in the morning, commute from railway station to my destination was via a temple by the roadside. I saw a couple of people standing over a heap of flowers, garlands, etc.

My God, they were literally brooming the God's idol!

Worth noting and mulling over is a secret that is actually no longer a secret to some: Flowers as well as God/Godesses to whom they are offered to, transmitting Devotional ‘Bhava‘ or Emotion of ‘Surrender’ and Faith, literally get mistreated. The former gets transhiped to (the planet as) garbage bin. Or it gets dumped as a waste into the sea while disposing it off along-with the latter. The pictures that one receives on whatsapp during the Ganapati or Durga festival are a testimony to this.

Here are a few more learning's that I have expressed in the form of a poetic rant.

The Business Of Businesses

The poem refers to various businesses such as tea stalls, taxi, rickshaw, temples, etc.

What was the learning in the morning?

The picture itself raised a few questions in my mind.

1/ Shouldn't we force ourselves to rethink and to relearn the differentiation among Blind-Faith, Emotions, the Emotional Ways-&-Means of Devotion and the Rationality of rituals particularly when they are performed for the sake of rituals?

2/ Aren't there better and environmentally-friendly ways to express Devotional ‘Bhava‘ or Emotion of ‘Surrender’ and Faith (Sharanagati and Shradda) towards the supreme power?

3/ When will rational thoughts prevail over emotional ones?

Hope someone has tips, suggestions or answers to the questions such as above. The answers are the learning: A new dawn in the 'The Business Of Businesses!'

Deity is in the eyes of the beholder

Sometime ago I received a divinely-beautiful picture on social media. It was an idol of 'Lord-Shiva' in the backdrop of Sun.

Deity is in the eyes of the beholder !!

This is what I murmured on looking at it instead of "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" as they often say!

I also 'read' the picture as...
Isn't it possible to embrace even Sun if One-believes-in-Self as an infinitely decimated part of the super power though! Of course, at the same time one must not abuse the beauty of the Nature-God!

Else as another picture depicts, 'God-Shiva', The-Supreme Generator-Operator of the Universe-and-the-Nature won't take much time to switch-her-role to be 'Deity-Shankar': The-Supreme-Destructor !

What Moral-tips one may draw from so-called 'natural' calamities & devastations therefrom?

1/ Let's not push God-Shiva to be Deity-Shankar.

2/ G-O-D, The Generator-Operator-Destructor, The Universal-Energy is omni-present and  holistically well-balanced in and around the beauty of The-Nature itself and its creations rather than being concentrated in an idol.

3/ An idol itself will be helpless if we contribute in imbalancing the Nature by involving in unnatural and wasteful human activities.

4/ We ourselves must take care of both The-Self as well as the beauty of The-Nature-God rather than being under the influence of blind-faith that S/He is there to cure us of any of our own mis-doings.
